for the most part, the people of the subarctic depended on game animals for their food (caribou, moose, musk oxen, deer & salmon, whitefish or eels for those that lived close to waterways)

supermarket
'when you go into a supermarket in the United States, there is hardly any food!'...there was not a lot, in most American supermarkets, that most French people would consider (traditionally at least) an ailment...the processed and preprepared foods that filled up the aisles in a North American grocery store weren't real food, because, although they were edible, they weren't nourishing.

brains & bodies
dr amy reichenbach:
new scientific research shows that our brains and bodies often become physically addicted to factory foods. in fact, sugar seems to stimulate the brain's reward centers with the neurotransmitter dopamine exactly like other addictive drugs do. in short, research is showing that we may need to literally 'detox' off factory foods the same way we would addictive drugs.

celestial experts!!!
imagine that [the] entire universe of celestial experts and attributes is yours for the asking. imagine that the spirits of creation are standing ready to assist you in making your world. believe that not only is the power to summon that creativity flowing through you, it is your divine right - divine assignment, even - to wield it.

good news!
i noticed that things happen with or without me, people approve of me or they don't. it has nothing to do with me. this is really good news, since it leaves me responsible for my own happiness. it leaves me to do nothing but live my life as kindly and intelligently as i can.

Nisargadatta Maharaj:
there is nothing to do. just be.
do nothing. be.
no climbing mountains and sitting in caves.
i do not even say 'be yourself'
since you do not know yourself.
just be.

closer
virtuous thoughts bring us happiness. instead of separating us and making us feel more cut off and afraid, they bring us closer to others.

path
your path is unique and special. the opinions of others will invariably be judgmental. when you know that you are on a spiritual mission, you become independent of the good opinion of others. get on with your purpose.

pouring LOVE!
what can you expect [from practicing] unconditional love?
if you pour love into every single situation and every single person you meet, and beyond that to everyone on the planet and to the infinity of the universe, you will feel yourself becoming a different person:
you will sleep more soundly
you will feel at peace virtually all of the time
your relationships will be more deeply spiritual
most significantly, you will begin recognizing the 'coincidences' of your life with greater regularity
your thought forms of unconditional love will begin to produce what you desire without your even being aware of how it is happening
your dreams will be more intense, and the vision of your purpose will become clearer
